Description

The Certified Data Excellence Professional (CDXP) course provides a structured introduction to modern data management. It teaches how to handle data throughout its entire lifecycle, from modelling and governance to quality assurance and effective data usage. The program covers core topics such as data modelling, master and reference data, data quality management, data governance principles and how to establish reliable, high-quality data environments.

The course is designed for professionals who work with data in any capacity — whether they create it, manage it or rely on it for decision making. CDXP helps participants build a clear and practical understanding of how to create, maintain and use data in a consistent and trustworthy way across an organisation.

What You Will Learn

The Certified Data Excellence Professional program is built around eight core chapters that cover the entire lifecycle and strategic value of organisational data. The curriculum focuses on understanding, modelling, governing and improving data so that it becomes a reliable and valuable asset across all business areas.

Part 1 – Introduction to Data Excellence and Data Concepts
You learn the foundations of Data Excellence, including key data types such as metadata, master data, transactional data and reference data. The course introduces the data-layers model used to describe how data is structured across an organisation.

Part 2 – Data-Excellence Strategy
This section shows how data supports business objectives. You learn how to align a data strategy with overall corporate goals, identify business-critical data and understand how data contributes to value creation.

Part 3 – Conceptual Data Modeling
You learn how to build and interpret conceptual data models. This includes identifying business objects, defining attributes and relationships and ensuring the model reflects real business requirements in a structured way.

Part 4 – Reference Data Management
This part explains the role of reference data such as classification lists and codes. You learn how consistent reference data improves integration, reporting and data usage across systems.

Part 5 – Master Data Management
You learn what master data is and how to manage it effectively. The module covers governance, lifecycle processes and organisational structures needed to ensure stable, accurate and trusted master data.

Part 6 – Metrics and Dimensions
This section teaches how to define meaningful key figures (KPIs) and dimensions. You learn how to connect metrics to the underlying data model and how to structure reports and analytics based on correct definitions.

Part 7 – Data Usage
You learn how data is used for reporting, analysis and operational tasks. The module covers data flows, provisioning methods and ensuring that users receive the right data, at the right time, in the right quality.

Part 8 – Data Quality Management
You learn how to define data quality criteria, measure and monitor data quality and implement improvement measures. The focus is on building sustainable processes that keep organisational data accurate, consistent and reliable over time.

Certification & Exam

After completing the CDXP training, you can take the CDXP certification exam. The exam evaluates your understanding of all eight chapters of the Data Excellence curriculum, including data concepts, modelling, governance, master data, reference data, metrics, data usage and data quality management.

The exam consists of multiple choice questions that test both conceptual understanding and the ability to apply the Data Excellence principles taught in the course. The certification body defines the passing score centrally and communicates it through the exam platform.

There are no formal prerequisites for the certification, but the course is designed for professionals who work with data in any form, such as analysts, data stewards, business users, domain experts or data managers. Once you pass the exam, you receive the CDXP certificate, confirming your competence in applying Data Excellence principles across an organisation.

What You Will Achieve

The CDXP program helps you master the fundamentals of modern data management. You learn how to structure data, improve data quality and build clear, reliable data models that support smarter decisions across the whole organisation. The training covers everything from data concepts and modelling to master data, reference data, metrics and data governance.

CDXP is ideal for anyone who works with data, whether you create it, manage it or depend on it in your daily work. After the course and exam, you can prove that you understand how to establish consistent, high-quality data across your company.
