CompTIA AI Agent Essentials covers the principles needed to evaluate, design, and oversee AI agent workflows.
Participants learn how agents differ from chatbots and basic automation, how to break business tasks into structured steps, and how to manage autonomy, tool access, memory, and knowledge.
The course uses scenario-based learning and hands-on practice in CompTIA’s Agent Simulator, allowing learners to test agent behavior without connecting to live systems.
After completion, learners can support safe agent use, apply human review points, and prepare for the CompTIA CompCert competency assessment.
What You Will Learn
Module 1: AI Agent Fundamentals
Define what an AI agent is and how it differs from a chatbot, a generative AI prompt, and rule-based automation.
Identify common business use cases, including research, scheduling, customer support, reporting, and knowledge retrieval.
Assess when an AI agent is appropriate and when a simpler tool or process is a better fit.

Test agent outputs, identify errors, and monitor behavior changes over time.

Certification & Exam
CompTIA AI Agent Essentials prepares participants for the CompTIA AI Agent Essentials CompCert, a competency certificate earned after completing the course and passing the included assessment.
It is not presented as a traditional Pearson VUE exam. The assessment is a 20-minute competency check with applied, scenario-based items that test practical judgment around AI agents, including use case selection, agent workflows, autonomy, tool access, memory, guardrails, human oversight, and performance monitoring.
