Description
The ISTQB® Advanced Level Agile Technical Tester (CTAL-ATT) certification provides a thorough introduction to the technical testing skills which are fundamental in organizations using an Agile development approach.
These skills include testing and agile techniques, test automation approaches, and continuous deployment and delivery.
What You Will Learn
The official syllabus of the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB®) for the Agile Technical Tester (CT-ATT) teaches you the technical skills for testing in agile projects. The training combines theoretical lectures with practical exercises and case studies. You can complete the course online or in person.
Requirements engineering in agile projects
In this area, you will learn how to analyze and refine requirements in agile projects:
Analyzing epics and user stories using requirements engineering methods
Defining and formulating precise acceptance criteria
Testing in agile projects
This area focuses on the technical testing practices that support team collaboration:
Applying Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), and Acceptance Test-Driven Development (ATDD)
Using Specification by Example
Creating test charters for exploratory testing
Test automation
You will learn about advanced techniques for automating your test cases:
Concepts for Data-Driven Testing and Keyword-Driven Testing
Structuring test procedures and defining test approaches
Deployment and delivery
This chapter covers the integration of tests into the deployment pipeline:
Using service virtualization to simulate system components
Running continuous testing as part of continuous integration and delivery
After completing the course, you will be able to define testable requirements, implement test automation in agile projects, and integrate continuous testing into the build pipeline. The training prepares you specifically for the official ISTQB® CT-ATT certification exam.
Certification & Exam
This course prepares you for the ISTQB® Certified Tester Advanced Level Agile Technical Tester, CTAL-ATT exam, also referred to as CT-ATT. The certification is aimed at testers, test engineers, and agile team members who want to prove their skills in technical testing procedures, test automation, as well as continuous integration, continuous testing, and continuous delivery in agile environments.
For the certification, you need either a valid ISTQB® CTFL 4.0 certificate or an older CTFL certificate combined with CTFL-AT. Additionally, your responsible exam board may require practical experience. After passing the CTAL-ATT exam, you will receive the corresponding ISTQB® certificate. Please note: According to ISTQB®, exams and training are only available until May 6, 2027 in English and until November 6, 2027 in other languages. Reference: official ISTQB® information. What You Will Achieve
Apply Agile testing techniques to achieve defined test coverage targets on a software module in a sprint context.
Formulate testable acceptance criteria for a user story so they are clear, measurable, and understandable for development, testing, and the product owner.
Build and execute an Agile test plan that includes exploratory testing and session-based testing in a simulated sprint.
Implement an automated test script to check a core system function in a practical exercise and evaluate the test results.
Set up a continuous integration pipeline that automatically starts a test suite when changes are made in the repository and provides feedback on the build.
Execute the technical steps of a continuous deployment pipeline to move a software build from a test environment to a staging environment.
Analyze use cases for service virtualization where virtualized services replace unavailable or unstable system components during testing.
Provide a structured status update in the daily stand-up that clearly identifies completed testing tasks, technical blockers, and next steps.
