The ISTQB® Certified Tester – Testing with Generative AI (CT-GenAI) extends the Foundation Level and provides testing and quality-engineering professionals with a structured, hands-on path to master how, when, and why to use Large Language Models (LLMs) and other generative-AI techniques across the entire test process – from requirements analysis and test design to automation, reporting, and continuous improvement.
It not only explains the fundamentals of GenAI but also builds practical skills through real-world prompt-engineering patterns and applied testing use cases. Testers will learn how to integrate GenAI capabilities responsibly while managing key risks such as hallucinations, bias, security, privacy, and environmental impact.

Certification & Exam
After you complete an accredited CT-GenAI training, you prepare to sit the official exam for the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) “Testing with Generative AI” specialist certification.
To become eligible for the CT-GenAI certification, you must:
Already hold the ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) certificate.
Attend an accredited training or self-study using the official CT-GenAI syllabus v1.0.
Pass the CT-GenAI exam, which consists of 40 multiple-choice questions, lasts 60 minutes (with extra time for non-native English speakers), and requires a minimum pass mark of 65%.
After you meet those prerequisites and pass the exam, you receive the CT-GenAI certificate, confirming your competence in applying generative AI technologies in software testing contexts.
