The ISTQB® Game Testing certification focuses on the understanding and skills needed to perform and manage testing on all levels in game projects. It covers the basic concepts of video and game testing as well as how to determine risks and goals for gaming software.
It includes conceptually designing, implementing and executing game software tests, approaches to games testing (Game Testing Mechanics, Sound Testing, Graphics Testing and Localization) and recognizing games testing tools.

What You Will Learn
According to the official syllabus (current Version 1.0.1), CT-GaMe is structured into seven main chapters:
Chapter 1- Specificity of Game Testing
Chapter 2- Testing Game Mechanics
Chapter 3- Graphics Testing
Chapter 4- Sound Testing
Chapter 5- Game Level Testing
Chapter 6- Game Controllers Testing
Chapter 7- Localization Testing
Certification & Exam
After you complete an accredited CT-GaMe training, you become eligible to take the official exam for the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) Certified Tester – Game Testing (CT-GaMe) certification.
To become eligible for the CT-GaMe certificate you must:
Hold the ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) certificate.
Have sufficient practical experience in game software testing or related roles (for example at least one year as a game software user acceptance tester) as recommended in the syllabus.
Pass the CT-GaMe exam, which consists of 40 multiple-choice questions completed in 60 minutes (75 minutes for non-native English speakers) and requires a minimum score of 65% (26 out of 40).
Once you meet these prerequisites and pass the exam, you receive the CT-GaMe certificate, confirming your specialised competence in testing game software across multiple platforms, mechanics, graphics, audio, controllers and localisation.
