CT-MAT syllabus modules (official, v1.0, 2019)
The syllabus is a Certified Tester Specialist, Mobile Application Testing Foundation Level document and its main chapters are:
Module 1- Mobile World, Business and Technology Drivers
Module 2- Mobile Application Test Types
Module 3- Common Test Types and Test Process for Mobile Applications
Module 4- Mobile Application Platforms, Tools and Environment
Module 5- Automating the Test Execution
Certification & Exam
After you complete an accredited CT-MAT (Certified Tester – Mobile Application Testing) training, you become eligible to take the official exam for the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) CT-MAT certification.
To become eligible for the CT-MAT certification you must:
Already hold the CTFL (Foundation Level) certificate.
Attend an accredited CT-MAT training or prepare by self-study using the CT-MAT syllabus v1.0.
Pass the CT-MAT exam, which consists of 40 multiple‐choice questions, must be completed in 60 minutes (with a 25% time extension for non-native English speakers) and the passing score is 26 out of 40 (65 %).
After you meet these prerequisites and pass the exam, you receive the CT-MAT certificate, confirming your specialised competence in mobile application testing.

Certified Mobile Application Testers who have passed the Foundation Level “Certified Mobile Application Testing” exam should be able to accomplish the following Business Objectives:
Understand and review business and technology drivers for mobile apps in order to create a test strategy;
Identify and understand the key challenges, risks and expectations associated with testing a mobile application;
Apply test types and levels specific to mobile applications;
Apply common test types, such as those mentioned in ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation Level syllabus 2018, in the mobile specific context;
Carry out the activities required specifically for mobile application testing as part of the main activities of the ISTQB® test process;
Identify and use suitable environments and appropriate tools for mobile application testing;
Understand methods and tools specifically to support mobile application test automation.
