What You Will Learn
According to the official syllabus (current published version v1.0, 2018), CT-PT is structured into five main chapters:
Chapter 1 – Basic Concepts
Chapter 2 – Performance Measurement Fundamentals
Chapter 3 – Performance Testing in the Software Lifecycle
Chapter 4 – Performance Testing Tasks
Chapter 5 – Tools
Certification & Exam
After you complete an accredited CT-PT training you become eligible to take the official exam for the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) Performance Testing specialist certification.
To become eligible for the CT-PT certificate you must:
Hold the ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) certificate.
Attend training or self-study using the CT-PT syllabus v1.0 (2018) covering basic concepts, performance metrics, testing in the lifecycle, tasks, and tools.
Pass the CT-PT exam which consists of 40 multiple-choice questions over 90 minutes (with extra time for non-native English speakers) and a pass mark of 26/40 (65%).
Once you meet those prerequisites and pass the exam you receive the CT-PT certificate, confirming your competence in performance testing.

Foundation Level Performance Testing candidates who have passed the Foundation Level “Performance Testing” syllabus exam should be able to accomplish the following Business Objectives:

Understand performance metrics and how to collect them;
Develop a performance test plan for achieving stated goals and requirements;
Conceptually design, implement, and execute basic performance tests;

Explain the process, rationale, results, and implications of performance testing to various stakeholders;
Understand categories and uses for performance tools and criteria for their selection;
Determine how performance testing activities align with the software lifecycle.
