Description
The IREB® CPRE RE@Agile Specialist, Level 3 focuses on applying Requirements Engineering in agile environments at specialist level. Participants work with RE@Agile principles, product owner responsibilities, stakeholder and scope definition, user stories, backlog documentation, quality requirements, constraints, prioritization, estimation, risk and dependency handling, and scaling requirements across larger teams.
Training supports practical preparation for the IREB® Specialist assessment, which is based on a written assignment in the participant’s own project context. After completion, participants can apply structured Requirements Engineering practices within agile teams and projects.
What You Will Learn
Module 1: RE@Agile principles and Specialist focus
Review the purpose of RE@Agile and how Requirements Engineering supports agile work.
Connect RE tasks with product ownership, agile teams, and product quality.
Clarify the Level 3 Specialist expectation: applying RE@Agile skills in a real project context through a written assignment.
Module 2: Starting agile projects with clear direction
Define product vision, business goals, system boundaries, and scope.
Identify stakeholders and manage their needs in agile development.
Balance vision, goals, and delivery scope during project initiation.
Module 3: Functional requirements in agile work
Work with different levels of requirement detail, from high-level needs to user stories.
Identify, document, split, group, and communicate functional requirements.
Use backlog items, user stories, and product documentation to support shared understanding.
Module 4: Quality requirements, constraints, prioritization, and estimation
Specify quality requirements and constraints so they can be handled in the backlog.
Assess business value, risks, and dependencies when prioritizing requirements.
Estimate user stories and other backlog elements using agile estimation practices.
Module 5: Scaling RE@Agile and assignment preparation
Structure requirements and teams in larger agile settings.
Use roadmaps, broader planning, and product validation to support scaled delivery.
Apply course concepts to the participant’s own project context in preparation for the CPRE RE@Agile Specialist written assignment.
Certification & Exam
This course prepares participants for the IREB® CPRE RE@Agile Specialist, Level 3 certification.
Admission requires the CPRE RE@Agile Practitioner, Level 2 certificate for the same module. The Specialist assessment is not a timed multiple-choice exam; it is a written assignment based on a realistic project situation from the candidate’s own work context. The assignment questions refer to the RE@Agile syllabus and handbook, and candidates must show practical application of Requirements Engineering in an agile environment. IREB states that the assignment may be submitted in English or German, with no fixed submission deadline.
A pass requires at least 60.00% of the total score. After positive evaluation by the certification body, candidates receive the CPRE RE@Agile Specialist certificate. Reference: official IREB CPRE RE@Agile source.
What You Will Achieve
After completing the course, participants will be able to:
Apply Requirements Engineering methods in agile environments, including the use of agile techniques to support requirements work.
Analyze a project context by defining vision, goals, system boundaries, stakeholder groups, and scope.
Create clear functional requirements using suitable levels of detail, including user stories, grouped requirements, and project or product documentation.
Evaluate quality requirements and constraints, then place them correctly in the backlog so they are visible during planning and delivery.
Prioritize requirements based on business value, risk, dependencies, and stakeholder needs.
Estimate user stories and other backlog items using agile estimation practices.
Design an approach for scaling RE@Agile across larger projects, including requirements structure, team structure, roadmaps, planning, and product validation.
Prepare evidence for the Level 3 CPRE RE@Agile Specialist written assignment using the participant’s own project context.
