Certification & Exam

After the training you can take the CPUX-UT exam. Some providers can book the exam for you. You must already hold the CPUX-F Foundation certificate as the official prerequisite for this advanced level.

The certification involves two parts:

  • A theory exam: 40 multiple-choice questions, duration 90 minutes, pass score at least 70% (28 out of 40).

  • A practical exam: you must plan, execute and report a usability test (recruit participants, record sessions, submit video/report) and achieve a minimum of 70% in the practical assessment.

When you pass both parts, you receive the official CPUX-UT Advanced Level certificate.
You can register through UXQB-accredited certification bodies such as ISQI, Certible, or other recognised providers.

What You Will Achieve

By the end of the CPUX-UT training, participants will be able to:

  • Plan usability tests, including defining the purpose, scope, tasks, and test structure.

  • Recruit suitable test participants based on the context of use and user profiles.

  • Prepare test materials, such as task descriptions, moderator guides, data collection sheets, and consent forms.

  • Conduct moderated usability test sessions in a consistent and unbiased way.

  • Observe and record user behaviour, difficulties, errors, and interaction patterns during the test.

  • Analyse the findings, identify usability problems, and judge their severity.

  • Document and report test results in a clear and structured way, including actionable recommendations.

  • Understand ethical considerations, participant comfort, and data protection requirements during testing.
