What You Will Learn

Course Content

This CompTIA Cloud+ course covers the core topics in the CV0-004 exam objectives, with a mix of instructor-led explanation, demonstrations, hands-on labs, and scenario-based exercises. Topics align with cloud architecture, deployment, operations, security, DevOps fundamentals, and troubleshooting.

Cloud Architecture

  • Cloud service models: IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and FaaS.

  • Shared responsibility, regions, availability zones, edge computing, and multicloud tenancy.

  • Networking concepts including VPNs, load balancers, CDNs, VPCs, subnets, VLANs, SDN, BGP, and route tables.

  • Storage options such as object, block, file, hot, warm, cold, and archive storage.

Deployment and Operations

  • Public, private, hybrid, and community cloud deployment models.

  • Blue-green, canary, rolling, and in-place deployment strategies.

  • Cloud migration planning, including rehost, replatform, refactor, retire, retain, and re-architect approaches.

  • Infrastructure as code and configuration as code using JSON, YAML, versioning, testing, and drift detection.

  • Monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting, scaling, backup, recovery, patching, and resource life cycle management.

Security, DevOps, and Troubleshooting

  • IAM, MFA, SAML, OpenID Connect, OAuth 2.0, SSH, RDP, bastion hosts, and least privilege access.

  • Compliance concepts including SOC 2, PCI DSS, ISO 27001, data sovereignty, and data retention.

  • Security controls such as WAFs, firewalls, DLP, IPS/IDS, DDoS protection, encryption, and secrets management.

  • DevOps tools and practices including Git, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, Grafana, and the ELK stack.

  • Troubleshooting deployment, network, security, service quota, latency, routing, DNS, DHCP, NAT, and authentication issues.

After completing the course, participants should be able to explain cloud design choices, support cloud deployments, monitor cloud services, apply security controls, and approach common operational problems in a structured way.

Certification & Exam

This course prepares participants for the CompTIA Cloud+ certification, exam code CV0-004. Cloud+ is a vendor-neutral credential for IT professionals who work with cloud infrastructure and services.

The exam checks practical knowledge across cloud architecture, deployment, operations, security, DevOps fundamentals, and troubleshooting. CompTIA recommends 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience as a systems administrator or cloud engineer, plus Network+ and Server+ or equivalent knowledge.

The certification process is to complete the training, review the current CV0-004 objectives, schedule the CompTIA exam, and pass the exam, which includes multiple-choice and performance-based questions. Successful candidates earn the CompTIA Cloud+ certification from CompTIA.

For current exam details, see the official CompTIA Cloud+ certification page.

What You Will Achieve

  • Apply cloud architecture concepts to compare public, private, hybrid, and multi-cloud models, including compute, storage, networking, availability, and cost considerations.

  • Design cloud solutions that use virtualization, containers, network segmentation, load balancing, storage types, and service models to meet defined business and technical requirements.

  • Implement cloud deployment tasks, including migration planning, resource provisioning, configuration, automation, and validation of deployed services.

  • Manage cloud operations by monitoring performance, maintaining availability, applying backup and recovery methods, and using capacity planning practices.

  • Apply cloud security controls, including identity and access management, encryption, network security groups, firewalls, API security, Zero Trust concepts, and secure configuration practices.

  • Use DevOps fundamentals such as Git, CI/CD pipelines, automation, orchestration, and common tools including Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, Grafana, and ELK Stack.

  • Analyze cloud incidents using logs, metrics, alerts, and baseline comparisons to identify issues related to performance, connectivity, security, storage, and application availability.

  • Troubleshoot common cloud problems by selecting appropriate diagnostic steps, testing changes, documenting findings, and restoring services in line with operational requirements.
