What You Will Learn

This training introduces you to the fundamentals of ethical hacking and teaches you how attackers operate so you can better understand how to defend systems.

Part 1: Introduction to ethical hacking — hacker types, attack motives, legal considerations and the ethical hacking process

Part 2: Reconnaissance basics — information gathering, footprinting, open-source intelligence and identifying potential targets

Part 3: Scanning and enumeration — network scanning, port scanning, service detection and basic enumeration techniques

Part 4: Vulnerability assessment — identifying weaknesses, understanding common vulnerabilities and assessment tools

Part 5: System hacking fundamentals — password attacks, privilege escalation basics and system access concepts

Part 6: Malware basics — common malware types, how malware spreads and simple detection methods

Part 7: Sniffing and network attacks — packet capture basics, ARP attacks and simple network exploitation methods

Part 8: Web application attack basics — common web vulnerabilities and simple exploitation concepts

Part 9: Wireless security fundamentals — Wi-Fi risks, basic wireless attacks and defensive practices

Part 10: Countermeasures and defense — basic protection techniques, secure configuration and improving security posture

Certification & Exam

After you complete the Ethical Hacking Essentials training, you can register for the EHE certification exam. The exam assesses your understanding of basic ethical hacking concepts, common attack methods and the fundamentals of system and network vulnerabilities.

The exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions with a time limit of 2 hours. To pass, you must achieve a score of 70% or higher. The exam can be taken online through a remote-proctored platform.

When you pass the exam, you receive the EHE certificate, confirming your foundational skills in ethical hacking, vulnerability identification and basic defensive practices. This certification is an ideal first step toward more advanced programs such as CEH.
