You learn how to use computers, networks and online services in a safe way. The training covers topics such as safe web browsing, secure password practices, recognizing threats like phishing or malware, and basic protection of personal and work data. The goal is to make users aware of security risks and give them practical skills to protect themselves and their organisation.

What You Will Learn

This training teaches everyday users how to stay safe while using computers, mobile devices, networks and the internet.

Part 1: Introduction to security awareness — common cyber risks, user behaviour, safe computing fundamentals

Part 2: Secure operating system use — system updates, account security, user permissions and basic system protection

Part 3: Internet and browser security — safe browsing practices, avoiding unsafe websites, managing cookies and browser settings

Part 4: Email and communication safety — recognising phishing, spam, malicious attachments and social engineering attempts

Part 5: Password and authentication security — strong passwords, multi-factor authentication and safe credential management

Part 6: Mobile device security — app safety, device settings, mobile malware risks and secure use of public networks

Part 7: Network and Wi-Fi security — safe use of home and public Wi-Fi, VPN basics and secure connection practices

Part 8: Malware awareness — identifying common malware types, understanding infection paths and recognising warning signs

Part 9: Data protection and backup — file safety, secure data storage, privacy settings and simple backup strategies

Part 10: Safe social media and online behaviour — privacy risks, safe sharing, recognising scams and protecting personal information

Certification & Exam

After you complete the CSCU training, you can register for the CSCU certification exam. The exam tests your understanding of safe computer use, internet security basics and common cyber risks.

The exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions with a time limit of 2 hours. To pass the exam, you must score at least 70%. The exam is usually taken online through a remote-proctored platform.

When you pass the exam, you receive the CSCU certificate, confirming your ability to recognise everyday security threats, follow safe digital practices and protect both personal and work-related information.
