Participants study system management, services and user management, security, automation, orchestration, scripting and troubleshooting.
Teaching may combine lectures, command-line demonstrations, hands-on labs and exam-style tasks using tools such as systemd, SSH, firewalls, Bash, Python, Git and package managers.
After completion, learners should be better prepared to administer Linux systems, investigate common faults and continue toward CompTIA Linux+ certification.
What You Will Learn
CompTIA Linux+ (XK0-006, V8) covers current Linux administration skills for server, cloud, and hybrid environments. The course follows the current five-domain exam structure for the version launched on July 15, 2025.
Module 1: System Management
Linux concepts, boot flow, GRUB, kernel modules, devices, storage, partitions, LVM, RAID, file systems, network configuration, backups, virtualization, and shell operations.
Labs focus on installing and configuring Linux systems, managing storage, setting network parameters, and using command-line tools for routine administration.
Module 2: Services and User Management
Users, groups, permissions, ACLs, processes, jobs, package tools, repositories, systemd services, logging, time settings, and container basics.
Participants practise account administration, service control with systemctl, package updates, and basic Docker or Podman container tasks.
Module 3: Security
Authentication, authorization, accounting, SSH, sudo, PAM, firewalls, SELinux, AppArmor, account hardening, cryptography, certificates, vulnerability concepts, and audit procedures.
Exercises include applying access controls, reviewing logs, configuring secure remote access, and checking common hardening settings.
Module 4: Automation, Orchestration, and Scripting
Bash scripting, basic Python for administration, Git, Ansible, Puppet, OpenTofu, cloud-init, CI/CD concepts, Kubernetes objects, and responsible use of AI-assisted administration.
Labs include writing scripts, reading playbooks, tracking changes in Git, and reviewing simple infrastructure-as-code examples.
Module 5: Troubleshooting and Exam Practice
Monitoring, log review, hardware, storage, network, service, security, and performance issues using tools such as journalctl, dmesg, ip, ss, ping, traceroute, and top.
Scenario-based labs and practice questions help participants apply Linux+ skills to practical administration tasks.
Certification & Exam
This course prepares participants for the current CompTIA Linux+ V8 certification exam, XK0-006, launched on July 15, 2025. The certification process requires candidates to study the official Linux+ objectives, register for the exam through CompTIA’s testing process, and pass one proctored exam.
The exam includes multiple-choice and performance-based questions, with up to 90 questions, a 90-minute time limit, and a passing score of 720 on a 100 to 900 scale.
Successful candidates earn the CompTIA Linux+ certification, which validates skills in Linux system management, services and user management, security, automation, orchestration, scripting, and troubleshooting.

Apply Linux system management concepts aligned with the current CompTIA Linux+ XK0-006 exam, including boot processes, kernel modules, filesystems, package management, networking, backup and restore, and virtualization with QEMU, KVM, libvirt, virsh, and VirtIO.
Configure Linux storage and filesystems using tools such as LVM, mdadm, fdisk, gdisk, parted, lsblk, mkfs, fsck, resize2fs, xfs_growfs, mount, umount, NFS, and SMB.

Create basic automation and administration scripts using Bash, Python, cron, systemd timers, Ansible concepts, Puppet concepts, Git version control, and responsible AI practices for Linux operations.
Analyze Linux system, network, security, and performance issues using tools such as journalctl, dmesg, tcpdump, ss, ip, dig, curl, nmap, lsof, strace, htop, vmstat, iostat, sar, and log aggregation methods.
Prepare for practical Linux administration tasks and the CompTIA Linux+ XK0-006 certification exam, launched on July 15, 2025, through objective-focused study and hands-on command-line practice.
