Description

The iSAQB® ADOC training is an Advanced Level module in the CPSA-A program and covers the structured documentation of software architectures. You learn to build architecture documentation with arc42, suitable diagram types, and clear documentation rules. The course combines theory with practical examples and exercises so that you can describe architectural decisions, quality requirements, views, and technical relationships in a clear way. Depending on the provider, the training takes place online or on-site. After completion, you can use documentation in a more targeted way for communication, maintenance, and project work.

What You Will Learn

7. Dokumentation in agilen Projekten

Certification & Exam

Certification

The iSAQB® ADOC: Architecture Documentation training is a module in the CPSA® Advanced Level of the International Software Architecture Qualification Board. After successful participation, you receive an official certificate of attendance with 20 credit points in the methodical competence area. These credit points count toward admission to the CPSA® Advanced Level certification.

There is no separate exam for the ADOC module itself. For the CPSA® Advanced Level certification, you need, among other things, a valid CPSA-F® certificate, sufficient professional experience, at least 70 credit points from Advanced Level training, and credit points in the specified competence areas. The current iSAQB regulations apply. For more information, visit the official iSAQB information on the ADOC module.

What You Will Achieve

After completing the iSAQB® ADOC, Architecture Documentation training, you can document software architectures in a clear, structured way tailored to your target audience. You will understand how to structure documentation so that development teams, architects, project managers, and business stakeholders can work with it.

After the course, you can:

  • Create structured software architecture documentation using recognized approaches such as arc42.

  • Describe systems using clear architecture views, such as context, building blocks, runtime, and deployment.

  • Use diagrams and technical notation to clearly present system structures, dependencies, and key relationships.

  • Document important architecture decisions, including reasoning, alternatives, and consequences.

  • Capture quality requirements, constraints, and system context as a core part of the architecture documentation.

  • Evaluate which documentation content is relevant for different target audiences and what level of detail makes sense.

  • Maintain architecture documentation so that it makes changes to the system traceable and supports further development.

This allows you to use architecture documentation not just as proof, but as a tool for coordination, implementation, maintenance, and knowledge transfer in the project.
