Advanced SPC prepares experienced, active SAFe Practice Consultants for the SAFe Certified Advanced SPC assessment.
The course covers executive engagement, portfolio flow, Lean Portfolio Management, SAFe customization, transformation strategy, metrics, and responsible use of AI in consulting work. Participants learn through applied exercises, structured simulations, peer feedback, and hands-on work with SAFe CoPilot, value stream mapping, executive reporting, and transformation roadmapping.
A culminating Learning Lab brings participants together for peer-to-peer practice on complex implementation scenarios. After completion, participants can advise senior leaders, support SAFe implementations, and prepare for the 60-minute ASPC exam.
What You Will Learn
Module 1: Introducing the Advanced SPC Role
Review the responsibilities of an Advanced SAFe Practice Consultant in enterprise SAFe adoption.
Connect the ASPC role to transformation outcomes, executive support, coaching needs, and measurable progress.
Module 2: Embracing AI
Examine how AI affects SAFe ways of working, reporting, analysis, and consultant practice.
Practice role-specific prompting, use SAFe CoPilot, and review AI-generated outputs for accuracy, bias, and fit.
Module 3: Engaging Executives
Use simulations and peer feedback to improve executive communication and stakeholder conversations.
Practice linking SAFe work to business outcomes, transformation metrics, and leadership decision-making.
Module 4: Developing a Transformation Strategy
Assess organizational context, culture, readiness, and constraints that affect SAFe transformation work.
Draft a transformation backlog and roadmap tied to objectives, milestones, risks, and success measures.
Module 5: Portfolio Flow
Apply Lean Portfolio Management practices, strategic themes, portfolio structures, and Lean Startup concepts.
Identify bottlenecks across value streams and define actions to improve flow, prioritization, and feedback.
Module 6: Customizing SAFe
Adapt SAFe practices with guardrails while preserving alignment with SAFe principles and business goals.
Plan how to prioritize, communicate, test, and apply framework changes in a specific organizational setting.
Training may include lectures, guided exercises, case-based discussion, simulations, peer feedback, AI practice, and exam preparation. The course culminates in a Learning Lab, where participants work hands-on with peers to apply advanced SAFe consulting practices, test ideas, discuss real implementation challenges, and receive feedback. After completion, participants can prepare for the Advanced SPC exam and apply advanced SAFe practices in consulting, coaching, portfolio, and transformation leadership work.
Certification & Exam
Participants who complete Advanced SPC and meet Scaled Agile’s exam requirements can earn the Certified Advanced SAFe Practice Consultant (ASPC) credential after passing the certification exam. The exam is timed and multiple choice, with 30 questions to be completed in 60 minutes. The required passing score is 75%.
Exam domains include the ASPC role, AI-native practices, leadership support, transformation strategy, portfolio-level flow, and contextualizing SAFe. Certified professionals receive a yearly renewable AI-Empowered SAFe certification, a digital badge, and eligibility for PMI PDUs and Scrum Education Units.
The certification is intended for experienced SAFe Practice Consultants with an active SPC certification.
