In the SAFe® 6.0 Product Owner / Product Manager (POPM) course, you will learn about the tasks of Product Owners and Product Managers in the Agile Release Train. Topics covered include customer and market understanding, backlog management, prioritization, PI planning, iteration execution, and working with distributed teams. The training combines lectures, exercises, discussions, and practical examples from SAFe®. After the course, you will be able to structure requirements, maintain program backlogs, prepare features and stories, and prepare specifically for the SAFe® POPM certification.
What You Will Learn
This syllabus covers the learning objectives set by scaled Agile INC, the certifying organization, to be covered in a SAFe® training course. This includes the latest version of SAFe® 6.0 and this syllabus consists of five following parts.
Part 1- Introduction to SAFe® Product Owner/Product Manager
Part 2- Preparation for PI Planning
Part 3- Leading the PI Planning
Part 4- Execution of iterations
Part 5- Execution of the PI
Certification & Exam
After completing this SAFe® 6.0 Product Owner/Product Manager training, you will get access to the learning plan and the SAFe® POPM certification exam. The exam is web-based, takes 90 minutes, and includes 45 multiple-choice questions, each with one correct answer. To pass, you need a score of 80% according to Scaled Agile. The first two exam attempts are included in the course fee if you take them within 60 days after the end of the course. After passing the exam, you will receive the SAFe® Product Owner/Product Manager certification and a digital badge. What You Will Achieve
After completing the SAFe® 6.0 Product Owner/Product Manager training, you can perform the following tasks in a SAFe context:
Position the role of the Product Owner and Product Manager in the Agile Release Train, in value streams, and in collaboration with teams, Business Owners, and stakeholders.
Apply Lean-Agile principles from SAFe® 6.0 to clarify customer needs, set priorities, and align work with measurable business goals.
Break down epics into Features and Stories and maintain program and team backlogs with clear acceptance criteria.
Prepare for PI Planning by aligning vision, roadmap, features, and PI objectives, and making dependencies between teams visible.
Manage iterations using methods like Iteration Planning, Iteration Review, Kanban, and backlog refinement, so teams can plan, deliver, and review work.
Evaluate progress, risks, and results based on PI objectives, feedback, quality criteria, and inspect-and-adapt activities.
Prepare for the content of the SAFe® 6 Product Owner/Product Manager certification and be able to associate the key terms, tasks, and artifacts of the exam.
