These skills include testing and agile techniques, test automation approaches, and continuous deployment and delivery.
For ISTQB Certified Tester Agile Technical Tester (CT-ATT / CTAL-ATT), the current official syllabus document published by International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB®) is structured into four chapters:
Chapter 1- Acceptance Criteria, Epic, User Story
Chapter 2- Test-Driven Development, Behavior-Driven Development, Acceptance Test-Driven Development, Specification by Example, Test Charter
Chapter 3- Data-Driven Testing, Keyword-Driven Testing, Test Procedure, Test Approach
Chapter 4- Service Virtualization, Continuous Testing
No sessions available.
To become eligible for the CTAL-ATT certification you must:
Already hold the ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) certificate.
Have relevant practical experience in testing and Agile environments (the exact requirement is defined by your local ISTQB Member Board).
Pass the CTAL-ATT exam based on syllabus version 1.1, which evaluates your technical testing skills in an Agile context.
After you meet these prerequisites and pass the exam, you receive the CTAL-ATT certificate, confirming your advanced competence as an Agile Technical Tester.
Apply Agile testing techniques to achieve specified test coverage targets on a software module within the course timeframe.
Write three testable acceptance criteria for a provided user story that meet team standards for clarity and measurability during a classroom workshop.
Build and execute an Agile test plan using exploratory and session-based testing methods within a simulated sprint cycle.
Create and run an automated test script using industry tools to verify a core system function during a practical lab session.
Set up a continuous integration pipeline that automatically triggers a test suite when code is updated in a repository by the end of the module.
List and execute the technical steps to move a software build through a continuous deployment pipeline from a test environment to a staging environment.
Explain service virtualization and identify two specific scenarios where virtualized services replace unavailable system components during a testing phase.
Provide a factual status update during a mock daily stand-up meeting that identifies completed tasks and technical blockers to other team members.

The ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) certification is the cornerstone of essential testing knowledge that can be applied to real-world scenarios. The syllabus provides a comprehensive understanding of the terminology and concepts used in the testing domain worldwide, making it relevant for all software delivery approaches and practices, including Agile, DevOps, and Continuous Delivery.CTFL certification is recognized as a prerequisite to all other ISTQB® certifications where the Foundation Level is required.
The Advanced Level Test Analyst certification provides the skills needed to perform structured and thorough software testing across the software development life cycle. It details the test analyst’s role and responsibilities at every step of a standard test process and expands on important test techniques. It mainly focuses on functional testing but also discusses user-focused, non-functional testing.
The Certified Tester Advanced Level Test Automation Engineering (CTAL-TAE) qualification is aimed at anyone involved in software testing and test automation. This includes people in roles such as testers, test analysts, test automation engineers, test consultants, test architects, test managers, and software developers. This qualification is also appropriate for anyone who wants a basic understanding of test automation, such as project managers, quality managers, software development managers, business analysts, IT directors and management consultants.
The ISTQB® Advanced Level Test Management (CTAL-TM) certification provides the knowledge and competencies to take responsibility for managing all the testing activities across the software development lifecycle. It covers everything from how to design a suitable test approach for the project based on the organizational test strategy to building a test team or testing competencies to complete the necessary testing.
The ISTQB® Agile Test Leadership at Scale (CT-ATLaS) certification focuses on how to organize and improve quality and testing across multiple teams in an agile organization. It also covers how to approach quality and testing at a strategic level in order to achieve higher business agility in an organization. CT-ATLaS covers how to scale testing and quality assurance efforts by fostering a quality mindset and culture across the organization. This includes shifting from a traditional test management approach typically used in sequential development models to a quality assistance approach which builds on Lean and Agile principles and values. It also includes how to adopt common Lean and Agile techniques and processes for analyzing and solving problems and how to use them to improve testing and quality in the organization.
The ISTQB® Foundation Level Agile Tester (CTFL-AT) certification provides the key testing skills necessary to successfully contribute to an Agile project. CTFL-AT covers agile testing in alignment with the principles of agile software development as outlined in the Agile Manifesto. A tester on an Agile project will work differently than one working on a traditional project. Testers must understand the values and principles that underpin Agile projects, and how testers are an integral part of a whole-team approach together with developers and business representatives.
